WelcometoExtremeGamer

Lastly and quite possible least, after a stellar May, comes June. Not to be confused with our current month, July, June gave us some sweet games. 'Toy Story 3' came out alongside the excellent film that did not make me cry, and, “it’s actually pretty sweet,” to quote my editor. 'Modnation Racers' also came out giving all those folks complaining that 'Little Big Planet' did not have enough racing in it, something to play and be more than content with.

'Green Day: Rock Band' came out, surprising us all with its ability to get us to pick up our plastic guitars all over again. I suppose it makes sense that a band that is as fun to listen to as 'Green Day' is would produce a game that is equally fun to play. Let’s not forget 'Earthworm Jim,' which just might have happened had the excellent update not released on Xbox Live. It was everything you remember about the titular hero, only a whole lot prettier. Plus, the water level was finally fun to play. We never thought we’d see the day.

... and Let us Not Forget
'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11' also showed its multiplatform abilities, but not much needs to be said here. It’s Tiger Woods, it’s golf, and we have all already forgotten about his infidelity, the same way that we have already forgotten about 'Tiger Woods PGA 10.'

TOY STORY 3
• Disney Interactive - Avalanche Software
Quote...
"As cliché as it sounds, 'Avalanche Games' has gone above-and-beyond what is expected out a “kids game.” Toy Story 3 is near perfect, delivering an opened ended, action packed game that can be enjoyed for hours on end. It doesn’t hurt that Toy Story 3 also looks spectacular and plays just as good. I could easy ramble on for hours about how great this game is, so instead of being any more redundant, the verdict is simple. Have kids? Then pick up this game. Simply outstanding."

MODNATION RACERS
• SCEA - United Front Games
Quote...
"ModNation Racers is an innovative take on the simplistic mechanics of kart racing. By adding in the outstanding ability to generate and share your own content, 'ModNation Racers' stands out in a crowd. Sure, there is a lot of room for tweaking, and who knows maybe all our control concerns could be patched. Even so, ‘ModNation Racers’ is still a sold racing game that has a fast gowning amount of content to explore."

GREEN DAY: ROCK BAND
• MTV Games - Harmonix Music
Quote...
"Green Day: Rock Band is a success, although I wouldn’t put it on the same level as 'The Beatles' edition. 'The Beatles' special edition was simply too polished and imaginative, with a complete retrospective look at the band from beginning to end. What 'Green Day: Rock Band' shows off is how this little band from California has made an impact in modern music."

EARTHWORM JIM HD
• Xbox Live Arcade - Gameloft
Quote...
"Earthworm Jim HD is a great update, one that other developers who are considering tackling an update should all take notice of. If you played the original and enjoyed it in any capacity, this is not a game that you should pass up. Everything you remember is there, but prettier, and there are three new levels and a surprisingly fun set of cooperative levels."

TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 11
• EA Sports - EA Tiburon
Quote...
"If its been a few years, or even last year since you’ve teed off with EA Sports golfing series, you will want take a closer look to the new tweaks provided in its 11th edition. The Ryder Cup is a superb bullet point for the back of the box, however the real selling ‘True Aim’ feature that makes you truly feel like your playing the game from the perspective of a pro. The only downside is the trending "back of manual" code to unlock multiplayer. If you are one for online golfing, make sure you pick this one up new. Aside from a buyer-beware warning, ‘Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11’ is a solid investment for those rainy days when you are not enjoying the real deal."

This is only six months worth of games. We still have another six to go, and then we have 2011. We’ve still got 'Halo: Reach,' 'Donkey Kong Country Returns,' the summer of Xbox Live arcade, 'Metroid: Other M,' 'Fable III,' 'Fallout: New Vegas,' 'Call of Duty: Black Ops,' Kinect and all of it’s associated titles, the Playstation Move, and that’s just naming the ones off the top off my head. Not only is 2010 already a great year for gaming, it looks like it is going to continue to be until the bitter end. Then, we will start the cycle all over again in 2011. I can’t wait. Thanks for reading.
