WelcometoExtremeGamer

'Just Cause 2' was the most notable release in April. It was the sequel we didn’t know that we wanted until we played that demo and realised just exactly what a grappling hook could be used for, which it turns out is pretty much everything. 'Red Steel 2' was also released this month, confirming April’s title as, “The month of sequels that we didn’t even know we wanted!” 'Red Steel 2' showed us just what the motion plus was capable of, and gave us hope for an otherwise casual-heavy slate of releases for the Wii. 'Final Fight: Double Impact' also released this month, which was sort of a sequel, and we sort of didn’t know we wanted, so it sort of fits here perfectly. It’s also sort of good, so play it!

... and Let us Not Forget
Adding onto the sequels in April marks the return of 'Sam Fisher' in 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction.' 'Conviction' changed our perception of what a "Splinter Cell" game can be. With a new found attitude, Sam might not be the stealthy cat we remember, but he can sure lay the smack down on terrorists around the globe. 'Metro 2033' also released showing off its sexy first person shooter engine, and offering us a totally solid shooter experience while we wait for 'Halo: Reach' and 'Call of Duty: Not Modern Warfare 3'*.

*(Note that “Not Modern Warfare 3” is not the actual title.)

JUST CAUSE 2
• Eidos - Square Enix - Avalanche

"Just Cause 2 is an over-the-top sandboxed advocate for destruction. The perfect vaction spot for all those who like a little mayhem with their adventure. 'Just Cause 2' is going to challenge your intellect, heck, you might not even watch a single cut-scene, but when you action starts, you will be glued to your controller and locked in to the fast paced action."

RED STEEL 2
• Ubisoft - Ubisoft Paris

"The surprisingly delightful mixture of classical Japanese weaponry conjoined with that of a Spaghetti Western makes for a unique ride that never slows down or disappoints. Ubisoft has followed up a good concept and a bad game with a revised vigor and solid execution. It is true, 'Red Steel 2' delivers everything you expected out of the original."

FINAL FIGHT: DOUBLE IMPACT
• Capcom

"Final Fight: Double Impact for the Playstation Network and XBOX Live Network is a picture perfect version of one of gaming’s great brawlers, backed by terrific local and online multiplayer play. Arcade cabinet replication? Check. Button-mashing multiplayer? Check. Cheese moves galore?! Peculiar food power-ups?!! You betcha"

TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL: CONVICTION
• Ubisoft - Ubisoft Montreal
Quote...
"When filing expectations away, 'Splinter Cell: Conviction' is a solid action game filled with suspense, drama, and nail-biting action. There are plenty superb moments as the unleashed 'Sam Fisher' to make picking up 'Conviction' a worthwhile investment."

METRO 2033
• THQ - 4A Games
Quote...
"Metro 2033 is a familiar, yet fresh take on the post-apocalyptic setting that has seen a recent spike in popularity. This time around developer '4A Games' takes us into the underground of Moscow to tell its tale of human survival after the apocalypse. As you can expect, your role puts you in the shoes of the one person who can make a difference, 'Artyom,' a young budding adventurer. Becoming 'Artyom' you set out to discover the wasteland and the horrors that walk its surface. 'Metro 2033' is dark, foreboding, and surprisingly interesting."
