Jeanne D'Arc | Publisher: Sony | Developer: Level-5

The PSP has been slimmed down in 2007 with a change in colour. The new pearly white PSP comes with a long list of great software backing up the promise of the ultimate portable gaming system. The PSP has turned into the new home for RPGs along with a number of exclusive titles that get the little guy treatment before stepping it up to the console world. Here’s our PSP winner of 2007.

The French protagonist, Jeanne D’Arc steps up and takes on the English empire along with a line-up of amazing titles for the PSP in 2007 to be crowned PSP Game of The Year. Jeanne D’Arc is the perfect blend of art, graphics, and storytelling, wrapped up in strong strategy mechanics. If Jeanne doesn't get you with her magically enhanced battlefield techniques, her gripping and emotional story will pull you in. Jeanne D'Arc is more than the PSP Game of The Year, it's one of the best role-playing/strategy games of the year as well.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction | Publisher: Sony | Developer: Insomniac Games

The PS3 started out slow, but now at the end of 2007 things picked up with a triple strike of action games staring a red haired warrior woman, a old PS2 friend and his mechanical sidekick and the everyman stuck in a jungle for the fight of his life. Not to mention an innovative artistic tale of lore, the return of an fighter plane turned multiplayer, and a lap or two in the mud. If you know the names to all these titles then you’ve been getting the most out of your PS3. As 2007 closes, we’re ready to name our PS3 Game of The Year.

The Future is now as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction pulls ahead of the rest with their easy going tale of intergalactic warmongers and telepathic alien species. Ratchet & Clank Future, like the rest of Sony’s line-up proved the PS3 can push the polygons, but where Ratchet & Clank separate themselves from the pack is its lengthy and diverse gameplay in a highly detailed world rich with design and plot developments. It’s good to see the dynamic duo of the PS2 make their next-gen debut and hopefully they have time to return a few more times before we see the PS4.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass | Publisher: Nintendo | Developer: Nintendo

If you own a Nintendo DS the game you need to purchase The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Re-invented for the touch generation Nintendo proves that a simplified Link doesn’t mean he is boring. Phantom Hourglass lives up to the Zelda franchise giving fans a return of the comic styled art of Wind Walker with the basic adventure aspects of Zelda on the NES. Being a portable game for the DS hasn’t stunt the impact growth of Phantom Hourglass because in a overall gameplay experience Phantom Hourglass comes out as one of the best games of 2007, period.

The Mushroom Kingdom never looked so good, or felt so alive. Super Mario Galaxy showcases the unique presence of the Wii in the gaming market. Mass Effect | Publisher: Microsoft | Developer: Bioware Corp.

In 2007, the Xbox 360 really packed a punch in 2007 with Microsoft’s gaming project gaining speed in the next-generation console race. Filled with exclusive titles and great support from all developers, the console has come into its own. Add the ever growing evolution of their Xbox Live service and you have a one-two punch that delivers the best of gaming and online integration. Picking out of the pile of great games isn’t easy in 2007 with the return of the big man himself, Master Chief, along with a few Big Daddy surprises. 2007 might have been the best year for the Xbox 360 and with any luck 2008 can follow suit.

The fate of the galaxy is in your hands with our Xbox 360 game of the year winner, Mass Effect. The talented crew at Bioware pulled out all the stops with Mass Effect continuing with their perfect record of producing outstanding and meaningful adventures. Following their past line-up of games wasn’t easy, either was taking on the Microsoft monster Halo 3; however Sheppard's meaningful adventure across the universe was enough to keep gamers enthralled until the Reapers ended up back in deep space. Mass Effect mature approach felt like much more than a simple action, role-playing game, and more like the next-generation of interactive gaming.
