DJ vs. DJ
Since I mentioned the DJ vs. DJ battles, lets examine the 'Battle Mode.' The battle mode spans six different variations including Star Battle, Accumulator, Streak, Checkpoint, normal DJ Battle and Power Deck Battle. This feature comes up in the 'Empire Mode' and multiplayer. Battling with friends is strangely addictive and more fun with a solid interface that always lets you know who is in the lead. The battling experience also trickles online. Online is where you should head if you think you gotz the skillz. Online a little personality has been injected with medals (avatars) and tags available to drop besides your name. I only wish the game had a lobby system of sorts. This would make finding a fun pairing a lot easier, rather then jumping in and out of matches. Nevertheless, this is where excitement really begins. You go “New Jack.” let em' here ya.

The Worlds Best
The real star of 'DJ Hero 2' is the music. The musical selection is off the charts and “most” of the pairing of tracks are down right solid. Creating you mix, your own soundtrack with 83 tracks is pretty wild. The number of artists are impressive featuring the biggest names from hip-hop, pop music, electronica and solo DJ's. To name names, you will hear, everyone from Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kayne West, The Gorillaz to The Chemical Brothers, DJ Shadow, The Prodigy, Deamau5 and more. If you listen to the billboards top 100, you will know most of these tracks. The only negative point towards the selection is that some of the tracks get re-used in DJ Battles or whatnot. It's not a huge complaint, but I am a little sick of hearing “Apple bottom Jeans, Boots with the Fur”

Here is a sample of what you can expect; Stevie Wonder & Edwin Starr with “Superstition/War” - Eminem & Lil' Wayne with “Not Afraid and Lollipop” - Busta Rhymes and Marrs with “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See and Pump Up the Volume.” - Bkackroc and Rza with “Dollaz & Sense” Lastly, one extra reason why the mixes are so spectacular in 'DJ Hero 2' is the master DJ's who mixed the tracks like 'Tiesto,' 'FSG,' 'DJ Jazzy Jeff,' and 'Rza.'

Lowdown
DJ Hero throws down another ambitious offering of beat mixing mastery in 'DJ Hero 2.' Still fresh, the series is adapting at the right speed in the right direction. More freedom to freestyle is what we wanted and that is what we got. So for all those wondering if you should upgrade, by all means 'DJ Hero 2' still has the beat. If you love the rhythm based genre and haven't tried out DJ Hero yet, shame on you, DJ Hero puts it together with substance and flash. I can't tell you how much fun this game is. Its something that needs to be tried to understand.
