Dead to Rights action hero Jack Slate seeks revenge in this "good cop" in a bad city tale. One part Lethal Weapon, and another part Max Payne, Namco brings us into the world of Jack Slates.

Dead to Rights is an excellent concept for a game, a story of a hard edged cop who takes no bull for anyone. He is fighting against the corrupt minds of an underground crime syndicate. Dead to Rights pulls this off with ease! It made me feel kinda like a jacked up Mel Gibson from his Lethal Weapon days. They hired all the right people to help the story get that movie quality and it shows in the game. Dead to Rights might not be the most polished game with a few hiccups along the way, but for the majority of the adventure you will be wrapped up in the cop land drama from the pen of Flint Dille.

Now i must get this off my mind. Dead to Rights would have been a smash hit if it wasn't for Jack Slates who could now be considered as the arch nemesis Max Payne. Max Payne's story and gameplay is so similar to Dead to Rights its uncanny. Dead to Rights does have a lot more features and overall might be stacking a full load of ingenious ideas, but Max Payne overshadows Dead to Rights simply because it was released earlier. If you reversed the roles and Slate beat Payne to the release date this would be a different ball game, Max Payne would be the one who didn't measure up.

Overall Dead to Rights is a good game, it is worth your money when you think of the quality gameplay and story you get out of it. The game is big on story and it drags out a time [prison level] but it has it where it counts. I still say "Rent it first" because it might not be your cup of tea... and if you asked me which to get Max Payne or Dead to Rights, I might whisper Max Payne. Check them both out, they are both worth your time.
