Microsoft's hype machine was rolling with the technical aspects of Blinx: The Time Sweeper. Sure, this is a cool cat who controls time, but we'll take a look at the game and see if this cat belongs in the litter box.
I was really hyped about this game and i read alot about it before its final release. What i thought this game was going to be and then the final product are two different things. I wouldn't spend any cash on this fur balled time traveling cat. Blinx: The Time Sweeper is a true disappointment which is unfortunate for the camp at Microsoft.
Blinx does have some highlights, but they don't overshadow the bad. Blinx is very innovative in with the way it plays with controlling time, a feature that can only been done in collation with the Xbox's installed hard drive. Developer Artoon has devised a buffering system with the Xbox hard drive that is one-of-kind. You can rewind, fast-forward, pause, stop, record and play all within the game. This gets Blinx into allot of interesting spots and at times you say "whoa, that was cool" but overall the game still a weird ugly feeling to it. If I was a betting man I would say this time controlling feature will used in the future when it is better optimized.
One big problem with Blinx is that I could care less about the goggle wearing cat named Blinx. Blinx is a great lead character from a screen shot, but the story has way to much cheese and enemies un-inspiring. What's with all these blobs, and cheesed out enemies. Take Blinx and his Time Control and put him in a different game and you might have a winner. Sadly, Blinx isn't going to be the next Crash or Mario.
If you are curious Blinx: The Time Sweeper is worth the rental. However, the whole game, excluding the time control concept is very uninspired and rather dull. Maybe if Blinx gets a sequel it will be worth you time,
