RESERVOIR DOGS |
| Publisher - Eidos Interactive |
|
|
| Developer - Volatile Games |
| Genre - Action Adventure |
| Release - October 2006 |
| Platforms - Xbox, PS2, PC |
The Reservoir Dogs game has always facinated me, mainly because I wondered how they where going to pull of the adapataion of movie to game. Honestly, I was worried, like any long Quentin Tarantino fan would be, its been 14 years and Mr. Blonde and the boys have escaped any other media but film. Well, my worries can be pushed aside because Reservoir Dogs seems like its working out fine.
Volatile Games is following along the plots storyline, but giving the player leeway on how they play each mission. The game is really pushing action and like Splinter Cell's new Double Agent you have to several moral decisions, be violent, or be really violent. The mechanics seem real interesting and a little more in depth then your typical action game. For action, there seems to be plenty, plenty of action and plenty of blood. Start cutting ears, Reservoir Dogs looks like it will be worth the price of admission.

FINAL FANTASY XII |
| Publisher - Square Enix |
|
|
| Developer - Square Enix |
| Genre - RPG |
| Release - October 2006 |
| Platforms - PS2 |
Final Fantasy XII marks a major change in way Finial Fantasy games have traditionally been played. Final Fantasy has always used a turn based combat system over all the year with minor variations. In FFXII they are going all out and switching over to real time. After watching the host from Square demonstrate the combat system, I'm more than pleased at this new direction. FFXII also has a number of changes the most impressive is how you can customize your NPCs A.I. to handle various situations. To cover all the little features in Final Fantasy XII game it would take pages, so I'll just leave off here. FFXII looked good and the new combat system will breathe some new life into the series. FFXII is scheduled to be released at the end of the month.

Handheld - For the handheld's a few titles stood out from the others, the new Star Wars licence from Ubisoft, Edios's Chili Con Carnage and Ace Combat X from Namco Bandai. The PSP already has a strong presence this holiday season with the instant hits like LocoRoco and Gangs of London, so I decided to focus on three unreleased games that caught my eye. It's been a slice, see you next year.

STAR WARS: LETHAL ALLIENCE |
| Publisher - Ubisoft |
|
|
| Developer - Ubisoft Montreal |
| Genre - Action |
| Release - December 2006 |
| Platforms - PSP, DS |
Ubisoft is ready to take on Lucas Art's Star Wars franchise with a Jedi free outlook. Falling between Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope and will feature cameos from a list of major characters including the bounty hunter in the picture above. In Lethal Alliance you take control of a Twi'lek named Rianna Saren and her security droid Zeeo. The game focuses single player collaborative play, but also has several solo missions to break up the levels.
It's seems everything is looking good for Ubisoft's Star Wars: Lethal Alliance, first because they have an interesting story involving the dreadful Death Star, a fresh new lead character and some action packed gameplay. It's not going to be the most deep experience, but it should be fun. I'm happy to see a Twi'lek as the main character, and I'll be looking forward to following up with a full review of Lethal Alliance when its set to be released in December.

CHILI CON CARNAGE |
| Publisher - Edios Interactive |
|
|
| Developer - Deadline Games |
| Genre - Action |
| Release - TBA 2007 |
| Platforms - PSP |
Chili Con Carnage was announced in the morning before the Sony event, so it was exciting to get a closer look at this new shooter for the PSP. Deadline Games already has already given gamers a similar experience to Chili with their over the top action game Total Overdose. It's seems they want us to have one more shot of the Mexican hot sauce.
From what I seen of Chili Con Carnage you will be running through levels gunning down anything that moves, not even the chickens are safe! A big focus of the game is the combo meter which gives you bonuses if you keep it filled. Power-Ups are also scattered through the levels and you have the chance to load up with lots of fire power and maybe even snatch a sombrero or two. Chili-Con Carnage will also feature a unique multiplayer mode where you compete with a friend for high combo counts. From this early build Chili looks great and should be a fun when it's released in the summer next year.

| Publisher - Namco Bandai |
|
|
| Developer - Namco Bandai |

Lastly, Namco Bandai was showcasing Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception. This PSP exclusive will thankfully be filling the much needed void of air combat games in the PSP's library. The first thing I noticed about Ace Combat X was its amazing graphics. This game really looks good, from the jets to the landscape, Ace Combat is highly realistic and detailed.
In Ace Combat X you will be set up in a new storyline with strategic elements throw in. You will also be able to tune your aircraft with unlockable parts and take on your friends in some wireless multiplayer games. If you a fan of flying games you'll should check out Ace Combat X when its released this month.
