PG 1/2 October 2006

I had the chance to swing by Sony's PS2, PSP Holiday Event in Toronto, Canada . The event was put together to showcase the upcoming holiday line-up of games for the PS2 and PSP hardware. I know your first question already, what about the PS3? Well, unfortunately Sony's Next Generation gaming system didn't make an appearance. In one way this is good because it would have taken away from all the current gen games, but personally I was looking forward to a sneak peak since I couldn't make it across the ocean to TGS.
I'll touch on some highlights of the show, as I had to chance to go hands on with a lot of the games at the event. Even though the next generation is almost upon us, the PS2 is looking better than ever. There are still a few miles left on the PS2, and the PSP is always gaining momentum and is looking equally as good. Thanks for stopping by, stay a while and enjoy our list of highlights from the event.

JUSTICE LEAGUE HEROES |
| Publisher - Warner Bros. Interactive |
|
|
| Developer -
Snowblind Studios |
| Genre - Action |
| Release - November 2006 |
| Platforms - Xbox, PS2, PSP, DS |
I had the chance to spend some time with Justice League Heroes from Snowblind Studios the cats who brought us Baulders Gate and Champions of Norrath. In one word I can easily describe Justice League Heroes, and that word is... awesome. I'm going to go on the record books and state that Justice League Heroes is the best DC game I've played to date. JLH features some of your favorite DC characters like Batman, Green Lantern, Superman and The Flash all with unlockable costumes and upgradable skills. Aquaman is also amongst the heroes and I'm glad to say he has finally redeemed himself from TDKs blasphemous Aquaman game from 2003.
Justice League Heroes features two player co-operative play through the whole game which is a great feature that should make for a good night with friends. The controls are easy to use and feel very natural. Each superpowers are mapped out and you can effortlessly jump between each characters unique powers. JLH doesn't just take place on the ground, I had the chance to play through a space flying mission teaming up Wonder Woman and Superman and the gameplay mechanics play out equally as in the air as well as the ground based levels.
I could go on and on about Justice League Heroes, but I should digress before I hit the status of comic obsessed fanboy. JLH is going to please all DC fans and hopefully make some new ones. Justice League Heroes will be released in Nonmember, only a few months to wait. It's going to be great.

TOM CLANCY'S SPLINTER CELL: DOUBLE AGENT |
| Publisher - Ubisoft |
|
|
| Developer - Ubisoft Montreal |
| Genre - Action Adventure |
| Release - October 2006 |
| Platforms - Xbox/360, PS2&3, Wii, PC |
If you know gaming then you're already counting down the days until Double Agents is released. I'm one of those long time Splinter Cell fans, so I was more than excited to sit down and learn a little more about Double Agent. The most impressive new feature to Splinter Cell: Double Agent is choice. As a double agent, Sam Fisher will be constantly learning towards good and bad trying to find the perfect balance to complete his mission. Sam's action either good or bad will directly affect storyline along with the gameplay. If Splinter Cell wasn't intense enough, Ubisoft just upped the bar.
Although Splinter Cell: Double Agent is coming out for all platforms, including the next-generation consoles, Ubisoft didn't leave the PS2 out in the cold. The PS2 will have exclusive levels, some which including flashback events from Sam's past. Of course the PS2 version won't be as pretty as the next generation versions, but there is still some incentive to try out the PS2 version. Next Gen or Current, Double Agent is set up to be one of the years best games.

GOD OF WAR II |
| Publisher - SCEA |
|
|
| Developer - SCEA |
| Genre - Action |
| Release - February 2007 |
| Platforms - PS2 |
At a Sony event, you know they are going to have their big franchises out and Sony was kind enough to have a playable demo of God Of War II on the show floor. God of War II casted a big shadow over the rest of Sony's line-up and stood out as one of the most exciting games on the floor.
After sitting down and experimenting with the demo, God of War II will be worth the wait. This sequel seems like more of same, but considering how good God of War was, that is a good thing. The action keeps up a good pace and Kratos has a bunch of new attacks along with some brutal killing animations. God of War II will have wrapped up in another adventure based around mythological gods, creatures and locations. I'm looking forward another epic landscape of killing goodness in God Of War II.

OKAMI |

|
|
| Developer - Clover Studio |
| Genre - Action |
| Release - Released |
| Platforms - PS2 |
Capcom's innovative dynamic action game Okami was present at the holiday event, and even though its already been released I have to take a few moments to share a few kind words. I had some time to sit down with Okami and I now understand why Okami has generated such high praise from the critics. Okami is a special one of a kind game which blends unique gameplay elements into a traditional action game. Okami's world, story and Japanese inspired art make the whole premise of the game very interesting. I'm looking forward to sitting down with Okami and exploring the game more. Anyone looking for a unique new styled of game, you should check out Okami. Who says Capcom always needs those damn zombies?
