X'10 - Media Event

In Canada we have one definitive Xbox event a year, called a 'X' event. This year we are up to X'10, and for the first time since X'05 the event seems alive with a passion similar to when Microsoft launched the Xbox 360. What could be the cause of this positive vibe? Well, a few key titles buzzing around along with Microsoft's new gaming peripheral, Kinect. While Xbox has two massive triple AA releases in Halo: Reach and Fable III, they wanted to make sure the media didn't forget about the Kinect, their little motion tracking gaming/ entertainment system. Not only did Microsoft not only dazzle us with its holiday prospects, they invited a top tier of third party publishers to the party to show of their goods. Yes, it was a good day filled with a sensory overload of gaming bliss.

What games made a showing? Well, we had everything from the music bases rhythmic sounds of Rock Band 3, DJ Hero 2, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (always crowd pleasers) to the more serious action titles like Dead Space 2, Assassin's Creed II, F.E.A.R. 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Fallout: New Vegas. It’s hard to deny the star power of these games rolling into late 2010, and with a beginning year this strong, it could be the best year for gaming yet. So instead of combing over pages of half witted views, I am going to focus this feature on a few highlighted games from the show, along with our hands-on impressions of each title.
