|Update| One of Canada's largest independent game developers, Artificial Mind & Movement (A2M) has announced a company rebranding as they change their name to Behaviour Interactive. The change is a return to the name the company was formerly known by when they were a small upstart developer of PlayStation games in the 90’s. Today that company has grown to 375 talented employees in Montreal and Santiago, Chile and is a licensed developer for all of the major game consoles, handheld and online platforms.
While Behaviour has always been recognized as a premiere work-for-hire game studio, the company has renewed their focus on developing original IP on multiple platforms alongside its work-for-hire business with major publishers. With five specialized internal studios (gamer, portable, online, downloadable and family), Behaviour offers a development solution for any project.
quote (Rémi Racine, CEO, Behaviour):
“We are and will always strive to be the best and most trusted independent game development studio in the industry. The change in name is not only a return to our previous name but also an indicator of the evolution of the company. We have developed a strong reputation as a high-quality work-for-hire studio as well as a creator of our own original content and will continue to pursue both sides of the business. The new name reflects the renaissance of the company.”
Along with the name change they also confirmed their upcoming line-up of games.
• Wet 2 (multi-platform) • Naughty Bear 2 (multi-platform) • Doritos Crash Course (XBLA) • Rango (multi-platform)

|Update| The source article might be a little old (is last month old?) However, I found it interesting enough to re-post. Originally posted on CBC News, the article shows a graphical representation of the average Canadian gamer. The data was collected by the Entertainment Software Association of Canada who surveyed 3,571 Canadians across the province. Hmm, what do you think Canada? Is this you?

No 3DS in 2010
Sep 29 12:30pm EDT | NinDS |
|Update:3DS| Nintendo has officially commented on the launch of its 3D-capable DS handheld, the 3DS, stating that it will miss the busiest retail quarter of the year, the year-end holiday shopping season. This will no doubt have an effect on Nintendo's profit forecast, as it sets up for a Japan launch on February 26th 2011. No North American release date has been given.
As Quoted in "Reuters," Nintendo fears that Smartphones are going to be a threat to the traditional gaming sector. Since sales of the Wii and DS are declining, Nintendo is putting the eggs in the 3D basket and hoping for the best. It doesn't help that Sony and Microsoft are both joining the motion gaming world, something Nintendo popularized with their Wii console.
For pricing the 3DS is set to launch for 25,000 yen, approx $305 CND, which is exponentially more then the launch prices of the existing DS models. Ouch!
The Nintendo 3DS was unveiled at this years E3 convention in Los Angeles, which also boasted an impressive line-up of launch titles for the device.
